Tribe
The Khugiani of the Kandahar region are one of the five Panjpai clans of the Durrani. They are a separate group from the Karlanri Khugiani of Nangarhar.
Rose reports Mark's view that the Nangarhar Khugiani claim Durrani origin and that the Durrani admit the claim, which would join the two groups. Encyclopaedia Iranica leaves the Khugiani out of its Panjpai list.
The genealogy follows the Makhzan-i Afghani and the Khulasat al-Ansab, as Caroe tabulates them. It records tradition: where sources place a tribe differently, the note above says so.
