Code of conduct

Make room for one another.

Pashtunxwa is a shared knowledge project. Contributors, reviewers, and readers should be able to take part in serious conversation without harassment, intimidation, or contempt.

Phase-one framework · October 2026

01

What we expect

Participate in good faith. Be curious about unfamiliar regional, tribal, linguistic, religious, and family histories. Challenge claims and interpretations without attacking the person who made them.

  • Write with patience, precision, and respect.
  • Welcome correction and acknowledge useful contributions.
  • Make space for perspectives from different Pashtun regions and communities.
  • Protect private information and ask before sharing sensitive personal material.

02

What is not allowed

Harassment, threats, hate speech, targeted humiliation, doxxing, impersonation, and deliberate misinformation are not part of this project. Neither are attempts to use the archive to inflame conflict or expose people to avoidable harm.

Political disagreement may be documented when it is relevant to the subject and supported by sources, but the archive is not a place for campaigning, incitement, or personal attacks.

03

Moderation and editorial access

The first release is admin-controlled. Approved writers and editors work through the editorial dashboard, where permissions and publication decisions are managed by the Pashtunxwa team.

Moderators may be asked to revise, pause, or remove material that breaches this code or the editorial guidelines. Administrators may restrict access, preserve an editorial record, or escalate a difficult case for review.

04

Questions and appeals

If you believe a moderation or editorial decision was mistaken, provide the relevant page, decision, and supporting context to the project owner or editorial team. Appeals are reviewed on their substance, not on the seniority or identity of the person making them.
