Tribe
The Sherani are a tribe of the Takht-i-Sulaiman, the Dera Ismail Khan border and Zhob. In the traditional genealogy Sherani was a son of Sharkhbun and so a Sarbani, but as a daughter's son of Kakar he grew up among the Kakar and swore to call himself Ghurghushti, and the tribe is counted with that line. The Makhzan-i Afghani gives him one son, Char, whose sons were Dum, Jalwani and Haripal.
The Makhzan-i Afghani, the Khulasat al-Ansab, Rose and Caroe all place Sherani under Sharkhbun by descent, and all of them count the tribe among the Ghurghusht by its own choice.
The genealogy follows the Makhzan-i Afghani and the Khulasat al-Ansab, as Caroe tabulates them. It records tradition: where sources place a tribe differently, the note above says so.
