Tribe
The Gigiani live in the Doaba, the angle between the Kabul and Swat rivers, in two sections, Hotak and Zirak. The Makhzan-i Afghani makes Gigiani a son of Sheikha (Khakhay).
The Khulasat al-Ansab derives the Gigiani from Muk's daughter Gaghi by a trusted agent, and Rose from a hamsaya shepherd; Rose adds that other Pathans do not recognise them as of pure Pathan blood.
The genealogy follows the Makhzan-i Afghani and the Khulasat al-Ansab, as Caroe tabulates them. It records tradition: where sources place a tribe differently, the note above says so.
