The Yusufzai are the tribe of Swat, Buner, Dir and the Mardan and Swabi plain, reaching east to the Black Mountain. In the Makhzan-i Afghani Yusuf is a son of Sheikha (Khakhay), and his sons are Elias, Akko, Muhli and Isa. Elphinstone, Bellew and Ibbetson use the name in a wider sense that takes in the Mandanr as well.
The genealogy follows the Makhzan-i Afghani and the Khulasat al-Ansab, as Caroe tabulates them. It records tradition: where sources place a tribe differently, the note above says so.
