Tribe
The Akozai descend in tradition from Akko, son of Yusuf, and hold both banks of the Swat river; the 1910 Dictionary of the Pathan Tribes calls them the Upper and Lower Swatis. Their divisions include the Ranizai, Khwajazai and Baizai.
The genealogy follows the Makhzan-i Afghani and the Khulasat al-Ansab, as Caroe tabulates them. It records tradition: where sources place a tribe differently, the note above says so.
