Tribe · Affiliated, outside the Qais genealogy
The Gadun (Jadun) live south-east of the Peshawar and Hazara border, on Mahaban and in the Dor valley up to Abbottabad and Dhamtaur; those in Hazara had lost Pashto. The Khulasat al-Ansab and Caroe place them under Panni, and Rose gives their clans as Salar, Mansur and Hassanzai.
Rose says they claim descent from Sarhang, a great-grandson of Ghurghusht. Longworth Dames finds a Kakar connection improbable, Bellew made them Yadu Rajputs, and Ibbetson lists them among the races allied to the Pathan.
The genealogy follows the Makhzan-i Afghani and the Khulasat al-Ansab, as Caroe tabulates them. It records tradition: where sources place a tribe differently, the note above says so.
